The Spark looks at the importance of the Tellico Blockhouse influencing Sequoyah. He learns to blacksmith, which leads him to developing a numbering system, to record what people owe him for his work. And it's at the Blockhouse he sees the officers writing down orders, reading letters and he's amazed that this piece of paper tells the soldiers what to do.
November is National Native American Heritage Month.
Presented by Charlie Rhodarmer, Director of the Sequoyah Birthplace Museum.
