Circulation desk volunteers must have basic computer skills and the ability to apply them in a working environment.
Volunteers are trained on our library management system by the regional library staff.
Volunteers must work with a trained volunteer for two days a month for two months before taking the regional training. This ensures that volunteers learn all of the important responsibilities of working the circulation desk. The experience also helps volunteers determine whether they want to invest their time in the training process.
Once trained, volunteers must work at least two separate shifts (3 1/2 hours each) every month. The library does allow for travel and other absences.
Flexible task volunteers do not need to have computer skills.
Assignments will be consistent with the daily needs of the library are assigned by the library manager.
Volunteer duties include such things as processing books, placing books on shelves, and assisting with mailings.
Tasks will vary and are tailored to the skills of the volunteer and the needs of the library.
This position is flexible in terms of scheduling. Volunteers schedule their time with the library manager and may work as often as they like.
